[Interviewer] This whole idea
of going back to the roots of the company,
using materials as they are,
is that what your getting?
It's like good food,
and that's very Italian.
You don't need to cover it in a big cheesy sauce.
You can just have very good produce
and it's quite enough.
[upbeat music]
The backdrop of the latest Fendi show
is the ancient wall of Rome,
it's where the Fendi's are from.
Makes sense that there's a sort of ruinsy feel
in the collectsion.
[heavy music]
[Interviewer] I walked in, I saw that big wall at the back
and I wondered if we were gonna get a show
that was about taking Fendi back to it's roots.
I think it should never leave the roots,
but it's a root, who are not only linked to the past.
It's inspired by that, but the colors are not like that.
There's this beautiful Edward Hopper exhibition in Rome,
and it gave me the idea for the colors.
[Interviewer] When you saw the wall,
what did it make you think the show was gonna be like?
I just thought that I was more interested
in about the palette.
I thought I would see something earthy, rustic.
That is what I saw.
[heavy music]
[Interviewer] Seems like there's quite a lot going on.
Many many new proportions, a lot of volumes,
but very clean at the same time.
Classical materials, the use again of classic mink,
the sable, not dye, not overworked.
It's just using them as they are,
it's the combination of them,
that's interesting and youthful.
But with all the different, kind of skins, put together
and the colors, it was more like an elegant patchwork.
My bias is my eternal love of fur,
and every time I go to Winter Collection of Fendi,
it's almost the graft inship of Jura.
Like that slash dress, thin stripes of Astrakhan,
it's couture!
[heavy music]
[Woman] I always try to break the rule.
[Interviewer] It's funny when tradition
becomes a way to break the rules, isn't it?
Yeah, it's like when you are normal among crazy people.
[upbeat music]
