We're doing stick straight hair with a middle part
and it's kind of inspired by Penelope Tree.
And it should kind of stay clean and fresh
and have movement on the runway.

We wanted just the girls to look really great
and natural, and super minimal.
Very sheer, fresh, clean skin.
So we're hardly using any makeup. [laughs]

[Interviewer] With Karl Lagerfeld's prodigious workload,
it's impressive the way he manages to inject
the distinct personality into each of the labels he designs.
I would say he personality of Fendi
is this interesting marriage between extreme craftsmanship
and absolute technique,
and a, sort of, futuristic concept.

Here at Fendi, the use of technologically
highly-evolved elegant fabrics
and the depth of knowledge, the rostrum of the expertise
of the House of Fendi,
that marriage is great.

It felt to me like there was a strong Industrial element
in that collectsion-- On purpose.
I wanted that.
I like the idea of the craft and the knowledge
of a House like Fendi, with all of it.
But to use material that normally we're not supposed to use
or didn't use in the past.
It's to make a better future
with a large element of the past.

I like the clothes.
They're always very inventing.
Very new, very different shapes.
And it's always very good energy.

When we just looked at Fendi now
we saw a lot of the key influences
that've we've been seeing throughout the season actually.
I think a lot of the 60s details.
Certainly a lot of the patent leathers.
Purse specs as well.
A lot of great detail, actually.
[upbeat music]
I think it's a very genius start
because in this show you have all the attendance
of the next season in one show.
So, you find everything you want to find
for next season, you know?
So silver was there.
This sort of, I don't know what you call it,
plastic, you know?
Silicon.
Silicon was there.
A touch of floral was there.
Some Italy concert bags.
I think every piece was a white plant.
Bustier, I think you get everything white, you know?
[Interviewer] Karl Lagerfeld guarantees that a Fendi show
is never gonna be less than fascinating.
First of all there's the heritage
of the old Roman house of Fendi itself.
And then there's the way he uses the past and the present
to point forward to the future.
It's a very interesting melange.
♪ They just use your mind and they never give you credit ♪
