Something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue”–you’ve heard it, Zendaya has most certainly heard it, as her look for The Drama’s premiere so said last night. The actor went into her own archives to pull a bridal white Vivienne Westwood gown that she first wore to the 2015 Oscars.

The dress is a statement of Westwood’s signature draping, with an off-the-shoulder neckline and corset waist that falls into a column skirt with a small train. 11 years earlier, still a burgeoning Disney star, Zendaya wore the gown with her long hair in side-swept dreadlocks, with a chunky diamond bracelet and egg shell-like clutch. Last night, she sported her bob in a very old-school bridal, smooth and deep-set side part, with shimmering drop earrings and pointed white pumps. The newlywed’s own east-west set engagement ring and slim wedding band appeared on her wedding finger.

“I was brainstorming with [stylist and image architect Law Roach] about how I would theme dress for this film, and I kind of remembered the saying, ‘Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue,’” Zendaya told Variety on The Drama premiere red carpet. “So I thought I’d bring it back.”

Her co-star, Robert Pattinson, dressed up as a more contemporary, nontraditional groom: he wore a full Dior look, in a salmon-pink suit with shawl lapels, a forest green shirt, pale yellow and white striped tie, and a pair of python print loafers.

From writer-director Kristoffer Borgli, A24’s The Drama is billed as a dark comedy that sees Zendaya play Emma Hardwood, a bookstore employee from Louisiana, and Pattinson as Charlie Thompson, a British museum director. Approaching their wedding, their relationship takes a disastrous turn. The movie was first teased with a fictional wedding announcement, and just last week, Zendaya made a surprise appearance at a Las Vegas chapel to serve as the official witness for one bride and groom. (Instead of bridal whites for this one, she opted for occasion-appropriate gold look from Louis Vuitton’s spring 2004 collectsion.)

The “something old” wedding tradition is actually based on a rhyme that originated in Lancashire, England during the Victorian era. Wearing these items were said to ward off the evil eye and curses that can be cast upon the marriage—something that seems necessary for Emma and Charlie, as per The Drama synopsis. It’s a sentiment, too, that combines Zendaya and Roach’s skills for both method dressing and fun archive pulls.

Z has already been leaning into all that this press tour can offer sartorially, playing around with the themes—delightful, given that we’ve had not one glimpse at her own rumored wedding to Tom Holland. Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week, she embraced florals for spring in a sweet Alexander McQueen dress and a romantic, fresh-off-the-runway Moschino suit with flowing, tendril-like white sleeves.

There have been, of course, plenty of billowing white and ivory looks to boot. Sitting front row for the Louis Vuitton fall 2026 show at Paris Fashion Week, she opted for a white cotton poplin shirt dress with dagger-sharp collar points, and a bubbly high-low skirt. Next, she walked the red carpet at the 2026 Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards in a white vintage one-shouldered Cachè flower dress with gold embroidery, which was once worn by Carrie Bradshaw and Whitney Houston.

The drama has most certainly been brought, with more to come.
