The Best Looks From Afropunk Brooklyn 2022

Afropunk was ready to return to Brooklyn for the first time since 2019—and with headliners the Roots and Burna Boy, a huge turnout was pretty much guaranteed. And the looks on display at last weekend’s festival were just as exciting as the lineup of performers. 

Stylish attendees arrived at Commodore Barry Park on September 10 and 11 in a spectacle of leather, stacked chains, and colorful prints to match the energy of their favorite artists. Cosplayer Anuli Duru kept things witchy with a wide-brim hat (resting above prosthetic elf ears) and leather harness layered atop a mesh tee while makeup artist and stylist Moshoodat was a burlesque dream in a pearly two-piece with matching drop earrings.

Musicians showed out in equal measure, with Afrobeat heavyweight Adekunle Gold sporting a custom Vivendii leather jacket featuring the sickest galactic airbrush detailing. London-based DJ Talia Goddess kept things more casual, opting for a Vance cap, her record label’s tank, and thrifted ski pants when taking the stage to perform.
