There were many dress codes during the three days of activity surrounding Sofía Sanchez de Betak’s wedding in Patagonia—Gaucho, Tango Smart, and White Tie—but when it came to her walk down the aisle, the Argentine art director’s look was all her own. Her Valentino couture gown was accompanied by custom Nicholas Kirkwood shoes, and a splash of her signature fragrance, a bespoke blend by Tramuntana that combined violet, magnolia, incense, and notes of the sea. “It was very me,” she says of her shared aesthetic and olfactory philosophy. “I wore my hair up, I had natural makeup, I wore the designers I always wear, and smelled like I always do.”

Model Caroline Trentini also surrounded herself with her favorite things for her hometown nuptials in Itajai, Brazil—from her custom dress (designed by close friend Olivier Theyskens) to her go-to Chloé perfume. “I loved that I wore something very familiar,” says Trentini of the fragrance. “Now I still remember the big day whenever I put it on—especially if it is hot out, just like it was on my wedding day.”

Generally speaking, Chiara Clemente prefers the subtle effect of a scented lotion, like Byredo’s Bal d’Afrique. But for her seaside wedding to writer Tyler Thompson at Amalfi’s Hotel Santa Caterina, the bride chose her favorite special occasion perfume, Chanel Gardénia. “It mixed perfectly with the scent of lemons and salt water which surrounded us—I couldn’t have imagined wearing anything else,” says the director. Now the scent is inextricably linked to the happy affair. “Every time I’ve worn it since it’s made me smile.”

When Frida Gustavsson tied the knot with photographer Hjalmar Rechlin, “It was the most magical day of my life,” says the Swedish beauty, who wore an embroidered Valentino gown and shimmering flats—along with a cloud of her favorite Balenciaga Paris fragrance for her walk down the aisle. Mingling with the baby’s breath adorning her braided crown and the wildflowers composing her bouquet, “I really loved that it was a mix of my signature scent and these natural beautiful little [blooms],” says Gustavsson.

Karishma Jhalani wove freshly plucked marigolds and frangipani flowers into her hair just before being greeted by a shower of petals as she entered her Jaisalmer ceremony. “[The flowers] smelled quite lovely, and at one point I was made to wear a rose garland as well. It was a beautiful concoction of natural, unbottled scents—I didn’t want any fragrance to overpower [them],” the 1701 cofounder explained of her decision to forgo traditional perfume for the evening. Luckily, she had multiple events for the days-long wedding festivities to practice a bit of olfactory variation. “On the morning of the wedding day, for the choora ceremony, I wore Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel,” and for a pre-wedding bash in Delhi, “I wore my everyday Chanel No. 5.”

The verdant setting of Swedish model Sara Blomqvist’s upstate New York ceremony practically called for a mist of the “summery and light” Marc Jacobs Daisy. “I felt like its innocence fit with my type of countryside wedding,” says Blomqvist. But to give the perfume her own personal spin, she layered it over Chloé’s signature body lotion. “The fragrance they create when mixed [together] is amazing.” These days, she opts for a few dabs of Serge Lutens Chergui. “Getting married made me want to get something more grown-up.”

When it came to planning Vogue contributing editor Chloe Malle’s wedding in southwestern France, she knew right away she wanted to wear a Valentino dress, white lace espadrilles, and a Frédéric Malle fragrance. The rest was up in the air. Trading her “cozy and urban” everyday Cologne Indélébile for the perfume house’s Lys Méditerranée on her big day was an easy switch. “It smells like it can be worn outside in the country,” she says. “I also like it because it was convenient to pack since I have the travel size!”

Ever the minimalist, model Hilary Rhoda chose a crisp Carolina Herrera column gown for her Long Island wedding to former New York Rangers star Sean Avery at the Parrish Art Museum. Her romantic nuptial fragrance, Jo Malone Red Roses, was just as befitting of her personal aesthetic. “I’m not a big fragrance person, but this one is so fresh and clean and light, and I know my husband loves the scent, too.”
