All the L.A. Cool Girls Were at Cult Gaia’s Tenth Anniversary Dinner Party

It was a misty evening in Los Angeles as Cult Gaia founder, Jasmin Larian Hekmat, welcomed guests to an intimate dinner in celebration of her brand’s 10th anniversary. But that only made the setting more magical—not that it needed any help. Co-hosted by model Behati Prinsloo, the party, at what was once Elvis Presley’s Beverly Hills home, took place in a Japanese-style tea house surrounded by a koi fish pond that had been strewn with flowers and floating lights.

There was plenty to celebrate for the brand, which started out in 2011 with hand made flower crowns and has since grown to include sculptural bags, shoes, swimwear, a full ready-to-wear range, and a glam cult following that includes everyone from Hailey Baldwin and Beyoncé and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to the evening’s co-host.

The theme of the event was Persian Nights, a nod to Larian Hekmat’s Iranian-American heritage, but with a distinctive SoCal twist. On arrival, a stylish crowd including January Jones, Langley Fox, Grace Johnson, stylist Dani Michelle, Marianna Hewitt, and designer Rhuigi Villaseñor were treated to saffron spiked margaritas courtesy of Calirosa—Prinsloo’s new tequila brand with husband, Adam Levine. Prinsloo, who became friends with Larian Hekmat after getting in touch in search of a sold-out piece she was hankering for, said, “When I called her, she suggested I co-host. I’m a huge fan, so this is the perfect pre-launch party.”

Larian Hekmat (who is expecting her second child next month) wore a custom red silk number cut to accommodate her baby bump and an eye-wateringly high pair of gold platforms and barely sat down during the event, preferring to table hop. All the while, guests, decked out in head-to-toe pieces from Cult Gaia’s new Resort collectsion, were treated to a multi-course Persian feast of tahdig, saffron rice, grilled kabobs, and pickled vegetables. “It’s so special for me to be able to share this with you,” she told the table. “I don’t love to do dinners; they make me nervous, so there are tequila shots for everyone.”

The evening ended on a sweet note with Persian-style ice-cream sandwiches—an elegant slice of rosewater ice cream set between paper-thin wafer biscuits—and towers of syrupy baklava, with each guest living with a bottle of Calirosa to keep them warm.
