Ladies First: Chanel Hosts a Lunch Celebrating the Tribeca Women's Filmmaker Program

“Forgive my last name, it’s not working right now,” producer Paula Weinstein apologized as she began her remarks at the luncheon celebrating Through Her Lens: The Tribeca Chanel Women’s Filmmaker Program. And indeed the guests at the third annual event celebrating the mentorship program and filmmaker grants supporting women had plenty to say about the man who shares Weinstein’s last name. At the same time, as the ladies feasted on Locanda Verde’s peppercorn-crusted filet mignon and homemade girandole pasta, just next door at the Weinstein Company’s offices the remaining board of directors ratified its decision to end Harvey Weinstein’s employment with the company. It was an irony not lost on the room, first noted by Zosia Mamet and then expanded on . . . delicately by Jill Kargman: “Oh my God, can you believe we’re all here celebrating girl power and his jizz is probably all over these banquettes? We should take out a black light!”
