On Wednesday evening, guests gathered in Midtown Manhattan to see Reese Witherspoon’s latest movie, Home Again, at a screening hosted by the Cinema Society with Elizabeth Arden and Lindt chocolate. The film, which centers on Witherspoon’s Alice—the daughter of a famous filmmaker who has just returned to her hometown of Los Angeles post-separation from her husband with her two children in tow—is Hallie Meyers-Shyer’s directorial debut. Meyers-Shyer’s mom is none other than the famed director Nancy Meyers, the woman behind hits like Something’s Gotta Give, The Parent Trap, and The Holiday, so, needless to say, filmmaking runs in the family.
