“You don’t want to put it on a shelf of its own, or a mantel or whatever, because when you throw a party or have friends over, it feels showy. But people want to see it so you don’t want to just put it away in a box, so I think the bathroom is perfect. The toilet seems disrespectful, but the shower is perfect. And this way people can practice their acceptance speeches in the mirror, behind a locked door. You know, it was awkward at first, but Antoinette and I have seen each other naked hundreds of times now, so it’s all good!”

“This is my Tony for How to Succeed in Business. It sits on a shelf near Tintin, sitting with Snowy, his dog. I actually have another one (yes, I’m bragging!), but it is in a storage facility at the moment. I must get it out again.”

“I keep my Tony on our bookshelf next to our ‘first look’ photo from my wedding day because they both remind me of two of the happiest moments in my life so far. Pure and utter joy.”

“I’m not quite sure why I put my Tony Award next to my mum’s picture, but once it was there, I left it. It seemed really fitting, as she is very proud of me.”

“My Tony Awards are on a bookshelf in our New York apartment. For a couple of years they lived at our house in Los Angeles, but it felt strange for them not to be in New York, so I decided to travel them back East. A security guard searched my bag and said: ‘Ma’am, what are these?’ I replied: ‘Um . . . they Tonys.’ He was blank-faced and said, ‘Have a nice flight.’ ”
