Johanna Ortiz and Saks Bring the Tropics to New York

It was just the latest in unseasonably warm New York evenings—a balmy 70 degrees in November!— which suited the lauded Colombian designer Johanna Ortiz, ensconced at a lushly decorated table in the private dining room of the Waverly Inn, just fine. “I am bringing the tropics!” Ortiz said. The designer was in town to fête her latest collaboration, a capsule collectsion called Libertad, exclusive to Saks. An intimate dinner for 30 or so guests was in order, co-hosted by Saks’ Roopal Patel.
