Maggie Rogers Gave a Surprise Performance at Khaite’s Very Exclusive Post-Show Dinner

Like moths to a flame, the cool girls are drawn to Khaite. Since founding the label four years ago, Catherine Holstein has consistently delivered pieces that smack of sophisticated seduction. And so last night’s dinner (which punctuated Holstein’s very eventful day—Khaite’s show kicked off punctually at 9 a.m. and the celebratory post-show meal was in full swing 12 hours later) was populated with in-the-know It girls.

Cohosted by Mytheresa at New York’s storied Monkey Bar, the dinner first welcomed guests to a generous cocktail hour. Ladies in Khaite’s signature ruched tulle party frocks with molded shoulders congregated at the front of the Midtown restaurant.

Among the well-dressed crowd were Camille Rowe (flirty in an LBD), Charlotte Groeneveld (whose rust-colored velvet dress shimmered in the camera’s flash), and Vanessa Traina (in a slinky white look by the label). And with the likes of Camille Charriere, Sophia Roe, and Giedre Dukauskaite, voices inflected with faint accents and full-on German (courtesy of the Mytheresa set) filled the space.

Presiding over it all was Holstein, who explained that despite her whirlwind day she was not lacking in energy. “I’m wired! Usually, after each show, there’s a bit of a comedown that I experience, but not today! I’m so excited to be here and celebrate,” she said, just before partygoers were instructed to make their way to their seats.

Everyone piled into the restaurant’s red leather banquettes; ladies’ tulle skirts expanded in the booths and everyone got cozy among the fashion. Michael Kliger, president of Mytheresa, then addressed the crowd, welcoming them all to the famous Monkey Bar. “Bear with me,” he joked, while making an intellectual connection between the choice of venue and Buddhism. “We must escape the monkey brain, what Buddhists called this state of distracted thinking.” Holstein then followed with a more straightforward welcome to all her friends and supporters.

Everyone tucked into their meals of roasted salmon or New York strip steaks. Just before dessert arrived, the marvelous Maggie Rogers picked up a microphone and serenaded the room with her soulful yet upbeat hits. From the crowd to the locale to the soundtrack, it all made for a very Khaite night.
