Bella Sicilia: Hamish Bowles Attends Lucilla Bonaccorsi’s Breathtaking Wedding in Southern Italy
Photo: Pascal Chevallier1/56The evening before the big day. A precious moment with my mother, [designer] Luisa Beccaria, on the rooftop of the amazing Tonnara in Marzamemi. We’re both wearing Luisa Beccaria.

Photo: Pascal Chevallier7/56Thanks also to Tearose Events we added little green details in every Castelluccio room.
Photo: Pascal Chevallier8/56We designed a special print for my bridesmaids in various shades of pastels. The pattern has almonds branches that evokes Sicilian nature.
Photo: Pascal Chevallier9/56My mum went for light blue: floral embroidered tulle dress paired with a wide-brim hat.
Photo: Pascal Chevallier10/56My wedding dress was my childhood dream. I saw it when I was 8 during my mom’s Haute Couture show in Paris and I told her: “Mom that will be my wedding dress, keep it on one side for me!” and that’s what she did . . . I tried it on [after I got engaged], and it was perfect!
Photo: Pascal Chevallier11/56The lace of the dress reminds me of Sicilian crochet.
Photo: Pascal Chevallier12/56My flower girls and page boys were my best friends’ children. Girls wore dresses in the same lace as my dress and the boys wore striped cotton suits. They were all in Vibi Venezia slippers.

Photo: Pascal Chevallier15/56My wedding’s graphics where made by us playing around with the drawings of our dear friend and artist Cathy Graham whose paintings included all the symbols and flowers of Castelluccio.
Photo: Pascal Chevallier16/56Thousands of colorful petals became the floor of our family’s chapel. (Mom found the specialists who work on the famous “infiorata” or flower festival in Noto to do this—we needed so many petals that some came from as far as Reggio Calabria!)

Photo: Pascal Chevallier47/56“Like a flower” was the theme of the evening. The tablecloths were designed and printed by us with fragments of the wedding’s logo designed by Cathy Graham. Crystals, candles, and flowers all played a part in the setting for the dinner. (Tearose of Milan worked on the décor.)
