This year’s Met Gala celebrates the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” and the immense cultural impact of Black dandyism. While the impeccably tailored pieces and the odes to 1920s finger waves made the biggest splash, some stars’ makeup took a more subtle approach. Lorde paved the way with what looks like barely-there lifts to her natural lashes. And leave it to quiet-luxury queen Sofia Richie to go minimal with a hint of blush to define her cheeks.
