Trading an English Palace for NYFW—Alice Naylor-Leyland’s Fashion Week Diary Inline
Photo: Courtesy of Alice Naylor-Leyland1/18New York Fashion Week, I’m coming for you!
Photo: Courtesy of Alice Naylor-Leyland2/18In Kate Spade and glitter Topshop platforms, having a little Uptown moment popping by the new ground-floor space at Bergdorf Goodman. Linda Fargo did a wonderful job.
Photo: Courtesy of Alice Naylor-Leyland3/18Visiting Dana Taylor from Made on Grand’s amazing New York loft. What a place—it’s stuffed full of the most extraordinary contemporary art. Here’s a piece by Anselm Reyle.
Photo: Courtesy of Alice Naylor-Leyland4/18I popped by Moda Operandi’s new showroom off Madison Avenue while I was in town. Not only was the Giambattista couture collectsion there exquisite, but the boutique space was breathtaking. From bespoke de Gournay walls to beautiful crushed velvet sofas, I could have hung out there for hours.
Photo: Courtesy of Alice Naylor-Leyland5/18Having grown up in a hotel in London, I had to pop by the portrait of Eloise at The Plaza. If only I had my very own pet turtle. But at least our outfits are matching.
Photo: Courtesy of Alice Naylor-Leyland6/18Just down the block from where I was staying with my godmother is my favorite coffee spot in the city. It’s dreamy for a quick latte in between shows. Here I am in Topshop polka dots and Jimmy Choo sparkles and velvets.
Photo: Courtesy of Alice Naylor-Leyland7/18The venue for Carolina Herrera’s show at the Frick Collection was mesmerizing. With beautiful models circling the water fountain wearing bows and gingham, it was the perfect old-school New York show.
Photo: Courtesy of Alice Naylor-Leyland8/18This was my first trip to The Arc at Skylight at Moynihan Station. What a cool part of town to have a show. Here I am taking it all in pre–Jenny Packham’s sophisticated and whimsical runway moment.
Photo: Courtesy of Alice Naylor-Leyland9/18Hello, American Vogue! How cool is Casa Magazines, where I found it? It’s right next to the place I was staying in the West Village and has every mag you could dream of.
Photo: Courtesy of Alice Naylor-Leyland10/18Leaving Tory Burch’s fabulous and fun show downtown in a Vivetta dress and SJP heels. I’m finally getting to grips with what a yellow cab actually looks like when it’s free (not as easy as it looks).
Photo: Courtesy of Alice Naylor-Leyland11/18Pre–Dennis Basso’s show refueling with a Vampire Slayer shot at The Butcher’s Daughter (what a name!). It’s a mix of ginger, lemon, garlic, and cayenne and is the perfect Fashion Week fuel.
Photo: Courtesy of Alice Naylor-Leyland12/18I nipped into Lauren Santo Domingo’s home for cocktails to honor Conservation International, an environmental organization that aims to protect nature as a source of food, fresh water, livelihoods, and a stable climate. Here’s the lovely Lauren with Lazaro from Proenza.
Photo: Courtesy of Alice Naylor-Leyland13/18This reminded me of my husband back home in England. With You I Want to Live, by Tracey Emin.
Photo: Courtesy of Alice Naylor-Leyland14/18Between Rufus Wainwright performing “Get Happy” to Bella’s little tumble on the runway, the Michael Kors show was simply magical and so much fun. It was just what a fashion show should be.
Photo: Courtesy of Alice Naylor-Leyland15/18The details at Delpozo’s show really were sublime. Every look was so intricate with so many layers. Josep Font really is an artist when it comes to design. I promise you, I fell for every piece.
Photo: Courtesy of Alice Naylor-Leyland16/18I popped by the NoMad Hotel for lunch pre-afternoon shows on Tuesday and loved this gray, glitter, yellow combo in their bathrooms.
Photo: Courtesy of Alice Naylor-Leyland17/18Gigi Hadid pretty as a doll walking in Anna Sui’s ’70s-inspired show. I’m loving this pink pajama-esque combo.
Photo: Courtesy of Alice Naylor-Leyland18/18In my favorite Emilia Wickstead frock, after a truly enchanting Marchesa show, I headed to Pier 45 by the Hudson River for my last breath of the city. New York, I’ll miss you, but see you next time!
