Last night at Cipriani Wall Street, Robyn Rihanna Fenty held her annual Clara Lionel Foundation Diamond Ball, which she moved to New York from Los Angeles, and saw an outpouring of love and support. “We were always a family of giving back,” said Monica Braithwaite, the star’s mother, who beamed with pride over her daughter’s philanthropic efforts, which benefit education for girls and the promotion of health and wellness. The family has long had a tradition of giving back. “When you are raised with empathy, you start small,” added Braithwaite, “and she would grow.” That sentiment resonated throughout the evening, which saw CLF raise countless funds during the live and silent auctions—MC for the evening, Dave Chappelle, who also performed a comedy set to open the night, picked up a Retna painting for $180,000. Taking in the elegant surroundings were Jay Z and Beyoncé (she had come straight from a performance of Dear Evan Hanson but did a quick ensemble change), Calvin Harris (who performed at the end of the night), and Kendrick Lamar (who also performed at the end of the evening).
