Celebrating milestones & moments with Claire Olshan
Released on 09/20/2019
I like to celebrate being able to take risks
and looking fear in the eye
and saying we're gonna do it anyway.
I'm Claire Olshan the founder and owner of Fivestory,
a boutique on the upper east side of New York.
I am also the founder and CEO of Dadadaily,
a healthy snack and lifestyle company.
The entrepreneurial spirit is something I was born with.
Growing up in New York,
a lot of people can absorb the confidence
and the energy of the city itself.
And I think New York also inspires you all the time.
It just kept bubbling up,
the idea that I really wanted to start this company
and that I had been suppressing this dream for a long time.
So I said, If I don't do it now, I'm never gonna do it.
So I did it.
I like to bring joy into my day as much as possible.
And joy in my life is completely equal to aesthetics.
So if I can bring something beautiful into
ritualistic moments in my day, I try.
When I try to create beautiful table scape
or beautiful moment in my house,
I like to do it very organically.
I like to take things that are around me.
And with Dada, I really try to relate that to my customers,
saying anyone can bring these moments into their day.
It's just taking a beat, taking a moment.
Maybe this is your meditation and how to do it.
So for me it's assembling beautiful things together.
Today I have a meeting at Greene Naftali gallery,
one of my favorite in New York.
We've decided to collaborate together
and I'm really excited to go over there
and celebrate the union of my company and their gallery
and all the wonderful things we're gonna do together.
Hi.
I usually get inspiration from art galleries or museums.
And I just love looking at paintings,
even if it's the hundredth time I've looked at it.
I always see something new and different.
Very cool.
Inspiration also finds its way just by
the possibility that anything can happen in this city.
That you can meet anyone.
There's always an opportunity.
I'm so excited about our collaboration.
Let's toast.
When I started, I really had this unbelievable community
of women who were also entrepreneurs around me.
They really helped me when I didn't know what to do
or didn't where to go.
Everyone opens up their hearts
and tells you their experiences.
And I think that it really empowering.
[glass clinks] Cheers.
