My new role at Liz Claiborne is designer-in-chief.
I'm sort of the Anna Wintour of Liz Claiborne now.
I love it, it's the greatest job in the world
because the brand is so meaningful.
It could possibly eventually become
the definition of American clothes.
That's my ambition for it.
I'm partnering right now with all of the stores.
And we're really talking about what it looks like in-store.
Especially in times of financial strife,
the more fun clothes look in the store,
the more they attract customers.
For one thing, there's a lot of color
and I do think that's one way to attract women into a shop.
For me, there was no real dangerous challenge about the job.
Growing up, I was so madly in love
with the whole Liz Claiborne idea.
It's a brand whose equity has only grown
and saturated into the culture.
And it's really a matter of just someone looking at it
and saying like, no to that, and yes to this.
It's just kind of putting it back on course
and making it really fun at retail.
