In a Moving Tribute, 12 Young Women Reflect on Kamala Harris’s Legacy

While I may be the first woman in this office,

I will not be the last.

[crowd cheering] [upbeat music]

Because every little girl sees

that this is a country of possibilities.

Kamala Harris is a powerhouse.

She's a game changer.

Brave.

Unstoppable.

A role model.

Leader.

She is now our first woman vice president.

Of color.

My mother raised us to be proud, strong, black women.

And she raised us to know

and be proud of our Indian heritage.

She has been building a path for girls and women

to stand up and let themselves be heard.

Like a boss.

I was raised by parents who were active

in the civil rights movement,

who said that your purpose in life

should be about service to others.

Right now, we are in an inflection moment

in the history of our country.

We need to have leaders in the highest offices who say

a woman's access to reproductive healthcare is

a fundamental, critical issue.

That the fight for LGBTQ rights is a fight for civil rights

and until all of us are equal, none of us are equal.

And we must fully value black life,

invest in black communities,

and root out inequity, wherever it lives.

She reminds me every day that I am capable

and worthy of my wildest dreams.

She has shown me that my voice can and does matter.

And with her as vice president, I cannot wait to use it.

There's nothing stopping us.

And we cannot be deterred

and we can not ever give up on our country.

Over the next four years,

I'm looking forward to a new beginning.

I feel so exhilarated knowing--

Kamala Harris is Madam Vice President.

Vice President Harris.

You did that.

She did that.

Like, you just did that!

So my last point is,

don't ever let anybody take your power.

That is who Kamala Harris is.
