Kate Young Pt. 6: Kate Young & One Very Versatile Skirt
Released on 12/11/2008
[ethereal music]
I'm Kate Young and I'm a stylist.
[energetic music]
This is a gray skirt from Antonio Melani,
available at Dillard's.
This is a really nice silhouette for fall.
I love this skirt because it's a wrap skirt,
and it's got a nice, puffy, voluminous look.
It's not super long, which keeps it flattering.
And it can be worn a few ways.
One of my favorite ways
is to wear the skirt like a preppy school girl.
I love the idea of this skirt
with a little v-neck and buttoned down.
It's just fun.
I think it's a really nice cute look.
I definitely think this is for a girl of a certain age.
It's much better for a younger girl
than it is for someone older.
The way to make this really cool
is to wear a great fun high heel shoe.
And make it a little bit sexy and subversive.
[up-tempo percussive music]
Another way to wear it
is a little bit more bohemian.
I love the idea of a full voluminous wool skirt,
with an embroidered blouse.
The blouse untucked over top of the skirt
and a flat shoe.
I think this look is great.
It's really easy, casual.
It's a nice silhouette.
It looks very rich.
I think it's really modern to wear
all the volume and then have a flat shoe.
I really like this look paired with a ballet flat.
'Cause with all the volume
it's nice to see an easy shoe.
This little Gianni Bini flat
is available at Dillard's.
The whole look should have
a very relaxed ease and elegance to it.
[mid-tempo guitar music]
The skirt could also be worn with a sparkly top.
This is a black sequin halter top from Dillard's.
And when paired with this skirt,
it gives it a nice evening feel.
It instantly feels like party dress.
And it's really nice to have the sequins with the wool.
It's a little bit unexpected.
It's a really versatile skirt.
It can go from preppy
to casual bohemian chic to evening cocktail.
