The clothes that you see they look effortless
but we can't even imagine how many hours went
into making them.
I mean, I hope nobody went blind sewing all that lace.

With all the uncertainly in the upper strata
of Au couture recently,
I'm leaving the Valentino show feeling
that the future of couture is in safe hands.
Curious about what drew you to Russia?
We started to read some book about Russian women
and so started the idea.
That there are these women left Russia,
you know a very particular moment
that they arrived in Paris
in '20s when culture was changing.
A lot of them they became muses of artists
and their independence of their mind was very,
something very inspiring to us.
[Tim] The choice of Russia as an inspiration is
kind of intriguing.
Sure, there were references to Belarus
and the gold and the velvet
and I think the pallet of the colors,
but everything was, it's such a lightness.
I definitely felt like a very elegant precious princess
in like a-- I don't know, felt like royalty.
[Tim] I thought that collectsion was sort
of fairy tale princesses.
It established a young take on couture
by essentially doing very old techniques
like little braids and little perfect sort of work with lace
but going backwards to almost '70s silhouettes ,
they made the line look perfect for very young socials.
It was really beautiful.
It was really elegant
[foreign language]
and really delicate and really cinematic in a way.
I really thought it was really regal
and very religious at the same time too.
I sighed, I gasped, I heaved.
People were having audible reactions to these clothes
because they're really the stuff that
that you dream about.
When I was looking at those clothes
I could imagine Audrey Hepburn wearing so many of them
or Grace Kelly.
Whenever you can imagine great women
and style icons wearing the clothes of today
I think that means you've stumbled
onto something wonderful.
