It’s another week running down the best in celebrity beauty with Beauty Marks, Vogue’s series that handpicks the best in beauty each week. Celebrity glam, hairstyling risks, world axis-spinning nails, lip combos I’ll never suss out.
It was a big week for big hair. Hunter Schafer—after a series of Paris Couture Week hairdos that referenced Kate Moss’s partygirl era and The Virgin Suicides—stepped up as a guest judge for the current season of RuPaul’s Drag Race and had a major archival moment, with the voluminous vixen hairdo to match. Anya Taylor-Joy went micro with a teeny tiny plait, and Aweng Chuol rocked a pixie. The rest of the week’s celebrity beauty moodboards were pinned with nature, cutesy k-pop culture, Gaultier, and ’90s minimalism. Nails from Soji Nails and Naomi Yasuda were sculptural and sexy. And as the awards season continues in Hollywood and New York Fashion Week attendees shield their faces from the tumult of snow, glowing skin stays a priority. Behind the scenes too, Margaret Qualley’s hairstylist Anna Cofone and Doechii’s go-to makeup artist Dee Carrion pulled back the glam curtain.

Aweng Chuol’s pixie cut
South Sudanese model Aweng Chuol stepped out for Marc Jacobs After Hours at The Manner in New York earlier this week. Aweng has spent a little time on team pixie cut—though the chameleonic model has sported blonde bombshell hair and bantu knots—and hairstylist Jet Keefe gave her some glam zhuzh for the Fashion Week affair, with some feathery bangs. Jeannette Williams was on makeup, giving Aweng a sultry, glossy, gradient lip.

Anya Taylor-Joy’s tiny plait
Anya Taylor-Joy worked hard this week, with a quintet of outfits in one day while she promoted her Valentine’s Day sci-fi movie, The Gorge, in New York. Her looks oscillated from an all-encompassing shearling Alexander McQueen coat, two Celine skirt suits, and two capes by Celine and Loewe. What was the throughline? A teeny, tiny plait. The micro hair twist was a sweet and subtle addition to her ice-blonde wavy hair, crafted by Gregory Russell, who also does Mia Goth and Jennifer Lawrence’s angelic looks.

Naomi Yasuda is a Japan born and raised, New York City-based nail artist who has created fantastical, ornate designs for the likes of Madonna, A$AP Rocky, and Sabrina Carpenter. This week, she did a set of white lace-up nails on model Tessa Kuragi, with silver eyelets to keep the fingers corseted—and a rosy shade of lost circulation.

Actor Emma Roberts channels her aunt Julia with her newly auburn hair. Posting to Instagram, Roberts went what she describes as ‘sunrise red.’ Nikki Lee—the colorist behind Paris Jackson, Erika Jayne, and Sophia Bush’s hair too—created the color using Wella, while hairstylist Raiwna Capri (who has her own fans in Selena Gomez and Julianne Hough) added a sheath of blended extensions from Great Lengths.

This week, Greta Lee came out for Calvin Klein’s first runway show in almost seven years at New York Fashion Week, witnessing Veronica Leoni’s design debut. It was a collectsion that revels in Klein’s founding sensibilities of minimalism and sensuality, something that will surely hit with the always chicly dressed Lee. It was her radiant complexion and sheer glow that really made her look, with makeup by Tyron Machhausen.

Lana Del Rey’s fave hairstylist Anna Cofone has crafted ultra-feminine, whimsical hair looks for Margaret Qualley across her ongoing awards season campaign. For the 2025 Critics Choice Awards, Cofone bolstered the beautiful Chanel look Qualley wore with a hairdo fit for a medieval princess. Qualley’s hair was brought into a high, glossy, and flowing ponytail using vegan haircare by Replica Sunglasses Beauty Concept and Hair and Care Project Paddle Brush. She finished it with two plaited bands of hair on Qualley’s crown, Maid Marian style.

10s, 10s, 10s across the board! Hunter Schafer’s appearance as a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race aired this week. She went total knockout in a Jean Paul Gaultier haute couture fall 2009 bustier and a jaunty hat. Her hair, by Rena Calhoun, really fed the Barbarella fantasy—bouncey, blonde, and buxom. Calhoun is an expert hand at these kinds of ultra-feminine hair creations, having done Mikey Madison’s own elegant press tour looks. Schafer’s winged cut crease and chiselled face was beat by Sandy Ganzer.

Ayo Edebiri’s auburn hair
Another Julia Roberts-inspired auburn, Ayo went reddish when cosplaying as Roberts for the 2025 Golden Globes. She’s kept up the hue for 77th Annual Directors Guild of America Awards, to match her chocolatey Khaite dress, wearing her hair parted in the middle, long, and curled.

An artist who has painted beautiful, boundary-pushing looks on the likes of Sza and Tems, Dee Carrion knows how to create space and dimension with her astute, sharp makeup techniques. For Doechii’s 2025 Grammys performance, she did some luminous glam using Urban Decay—yep, the iconic and peerless Naked Palette came into play. The visible face tape, surely Carrion’s calling card now, were a high-camp addition. Carrion recreated the rhinestone taped look on herself this week.

Sojin’s signature water droplet nails have found fans in the likes of Kim Kardashian, Rosalia, and Billie Eilish, and for the 2025 Grammys, Naressa Valdez. The dew tip nails studded with black ovals melded with Valdez’s silvery Heaven by Marc Jacobs jewelry.
